Impact Investment Forum





On August 20th, UNOPS Asia Regional Director, Secretary General of STS&P Organizing Committee, Chairman of Impact Foundation Korea, Head of SK Broadband Social Contribution and others have gathered for Impact Investment Forum. This Forum was hosted to bring out ideas for expending industry of Impact Investment in Korea. During forum, opinion was brought up that in order to stimulate ‘Impact Investment,’ which gives positive effects on both profit and society, private sectors’ role is important than government and therefore, private sectors should step up to take action.


According to the Chairman of Impact Foundation Korea, since social enterprise law enactment in 2007, number of social enterprises rose up to 2000 while number of general enterprises are 40,000. He commented, “In terms of speed, we showed expeditious movement. Initiative from government took a very important role, but private sectors still need to be developed.”


At this meeting, practical method for Impact Investment was suggested. Head of Social Contribution team from SK Broadband said, “We are considering on supporting developing countries through forming smart-farm, renewable energy, and sharing technologies. If relationship between North and South Korea gets better, I assume that there will be more activities for Impact Investment.” Agreeing with comments and idea, UNOPS Asia Regional Director has emphasized on how important a role of private sectors is.


UNOPS and STS&P will be hosting ‘2018 Exhibition and Conference on Smart Technology for Sustainable Development & Procurement’ at Ilsan KINTEX from Nov 28th ‘til Nov 30th.
